Burntwood School awarded Royal Institute of British Architects Stirling Prize.
/Annandale Design is delighted to congratulate The Burntwood School project in Wandsworth, built by Lendlease, on being awarded the prestigious Royal Institute of British Architects Stirling Prize.
The £50m school rebuild was designed by Allford Hall Monaghan Morris (AHMM) and completed by Lendlease in September 2014, with Annandale Design providing all balustrades and handrails to the accommodation and circulation stairs in each of the buildings, as well as providing a number of external balustrades.
The project championed a sustainable transformation of the original 1950s school site in south-west London and now offers students an engaging environment in which to study.
Annandale Design, Lendlease and AHMN worked hard to achieve a bespoke design which was in keeping with the original vision of the buildings. The six striking buildings within the re-designed campus now boast faceted concrete exteriors, colourful geometric-tile detailing and spacious classrooms filled with natural light.
Graeme Frew, Operations Director commented, ‘We thoroughly enjoyed working alongside Lendlease and AHMN on The Burntwood School project and were very pleased with the final result of the build. We are delighted to see the project being recognized by RIBA for its cutting-edge and progressive design.’
