Edinburgh Gateway Station
/Annandale Design was appointed by Balfour Beatty to manufacture and install the metalwork package for Edinburgh Gateway Station at Gogar in Edinburgh, Scotland.
Opening on the 11th December 2016, the new station and interchange hub is served by Abellio ScotRail and Edinburgh Trams. It offers transfers from the ScotRail network directly onto Edinburgh trams for travel to Edinburgh Airport.
Annandale Design manufactured and installed numerous bespoke stainless steel and glass barriers and balustrades to all circulation stairs and public areas of the station.
The appointment came after Annandale Design successfully completed the contract to supply the architectural metalwork package for the major upgrades to Haymarket station which was designed to transform the capacity of the station into a key transport hub linking the city’s airport and new tramline.
The extensive project was later awarded Best Civil Engineering Project at the 2015 Saltire Civil Engineering Awards. The project saw off competition from the Borders Railway, Ullapool Harbour, Hampden Park and a River Ness flood alleviation scheme, each of which received a commendation.
